Sports, Nutrition & Injury Prevention (QQI Level 5)
This one year programme provides a wide range of subject areas within the ever growing sport and leisure industry. There is particular emphasis on sports injury prevention, which incorporates exploring factors associated with common sport related injuries, including appropriate methods of prevention and treatment. The programme also examines the nutritional composition of food, including digestion, absorption and the effects of food and nutrition on an individual’s health and well-being. There will also be an opportunity to use the local Leisure Centre as part of this Programme.

Leaving Certificate or QQI Level 4, or equivalent standard of education. All applicants are subject to an interview and an online assessment. Depending on work placement setting, Garda Vetting may also be required.

€50 QQI Level 5 Certification Fee – Medical Card holders or those in receipt of a Social Welfare payment are exempt from this Certification Fee.
VTOS: If you are over 21 years of age, are unemployed and have been getting certain social welfare payments for at least 6 months you can apply for the Vocational Training and Opportunities Scheme (VTOS). Successful applicants can receive a VTOS payment for the duration of the course, instead of their social welfare payment. Small meal and travel allowances may also apply.
