Nursing Studies (QQI Level 5)
This programme aims to enable students to develop knowledge, competencies, attitudes and skills to enable them to function effectively as professional
nurses in a healthcare environment providing recovery focused individualised care. The programme provides opportunities for development of the fundamental
nursing skills and allows the student to adapt these skills to a variety of populations and environments.
It will foster and nurture the ethos for the student around the necessity for the continuation of professional development throughout their career.
Our successful graduates will progress to Mental Health Nursing Degree in TUS Athlone. There are guaranteed places once a student achieves at least 5 distinctions to include: Anatomy & Physicology and Nursing Theory & Practice or Care Support.
The collaboration between TUS and LOETB Tullamore FETC, where the US878 Mental Health Nursing – BSc (Hons) will be made available to FET learners in Tullamore FETC as part of the tertiary (third level) system, will offer tertiary learners the opportunity
to partake in a 1+4 degree programme, where they will complete the first year as a pre-entry route, in Tullamore FETC, followed by Years 1,2, 3 and 4 of the honours degree at TUS, Athlone campus in the Department of Nursing.

Years 2-5: Technological University of the Shannon, Athlone.

Leaving Certificate, QQI Level 4 or equivalent standard of education. All applicants are subject to an interview, and relevant assessment, if necessary.
Applicants must also satisfy Garda Síochána vetting requirements.
